The Atlanta University Center Consortium Center for Excellence in Public and Government Service proudly celebrates the achievements of two scholars from the A.T.I. Summer Leadership Training whose recent accomplishments reflect the program’s commitment to preparing the next generation of leaders in research, policy, and public service. The Center for Excellence in Public and Government Service proudly congratulates Joy Williams and Anaya Turner on these remarkable accomplishments and looks forward to the continued impact they will make in their communities and professional fields.
Joy Williams of Hampton University, a graduate of A.T.I. Summer Leadership Training Cohort II (2025), recently co-authored a research article titled Existence of Solutions for Shallow Water Equatorial Waves, published in the Journal of Applied Mathematics and Physics (2026). Her research contributes to advancing interdisciplinary scholarship at the intersection of mathematics, physics, and environmental modelling, helping deepen understanding of complex water systems that influence global environmental dynamics.

Anaya Turner of Fisk University, a member of the A.T.I. Summer Leadership Training Inaugural Cohort I (2024) has been named a National Semi-Finalist for the prestigious Fulbright U.S. Student Program, one of the most competitive international academic exchange programs in the world. Her recognition reflects outstanding academic achievement, leadership, and a strong commitment to global engagement and service.
Both scholars represent the caliber of students participating in the A.T.I. Summer Leadership Training Program, an initiative of the Center for Excellence in Public and Government Service that prepares students from Historically Black Colleges and Universities for leadership roles in public service, research, policy, and global affairs.

The A.T.I. Summer Leadership Training is a dynamic summer experience for Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) students preparing for impactful careers in public service and government leadership.Rooted in the timeless values of Excellence (Aretes), Purpose (Telos), and Integrity (Integritas), A.T.I. empowers students through immersive training, mentorship, and hands-on experiences that build the skills and mindset necessary to lead with vision and principle. Scholars are required to complete an application that includes a resume, two letters of recommendation, an unofficial transcript, and application-response questions. Scholars will commit to two years of training and internship. As an A.T.I. Scholar, you will gain hands-on assistance in preparing for life after degree completion.The A.T.I. Summer Leadership Training program has expanded its outreach to HBCUs, growing from 19 institutions in the inaugural cohort to engaging students from 33 HBCUs this year. This expansion reflects our commitment to creating inclusive opportunities for leadership development within the HBCU ecosystem.
