Beverly James is Director of Communications, Marketing and Events for the Atlanta University Center Consortium Inc. In this role, James is responsible for external and internal communications, raising awareness of the AU Center and its programs while also promoting the power of the collaboration with member institutions, media training and establishing top administrators as thought leaders. In addition, James directs major events.

Prior to her appointment at the AU Center, James was director of public relations at the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences. During her 30-year career, James has worked as a newspaper reporter, and media and public relations manager at major higher educational institutions, including the University of Maryland and Emory University School of Law.

James holds a bachelor’s degree from Howard University and a master’s from Kennesaw State University. Her passion for writing coupled with her robust experience in communications, event planning and marketing cement James’ commitment to providing outstanding service to the AU Center. In her spare time, James enjoys writing middle-grade and young adult novels, traveling and spending time with her daughter.
