Pre-Arrival Covid Testing FAQ

Recently we provided guidance for a new option for COVID-19 testing on our campuses through our Pre-Arrival Testing Protocol. These protocols are necessary to help restrain the potential spread of COVID-19 in our community—particularly given the high transmissibility of the Omicron variant. We are working very closely with a vendor (Our Community Healthcare Systems) to provide pre-arrival testing for faculty, students and staff before returning to campus.

Our current guidance will remain in effect.  However, through communication with the vendor, we have learned the company is experiencing supply chain issues with their delivery provider FedEx, causing a delay in delivery of testing kits for those who have ordered in the past 7-10 days.

Currently, the company is onboarding another delivery vendor (COVID Care Couriers) while we work to make sure we are abreast of their changes. We will provide ongoing communication to ensure this process is transparent. The site https://getcovidsafe.com has dedicated a team to respond to AUCC inquiries and can be reached at the dedicated toll-free number 1- 855-683-7863 for more information.  At this time there will be no changes to our testing requirements for our campuses and we will continue to evaluate that decision. See testing requirements here. You must present a negative COVID-19 test BEFORE starting work, moving into residence halls, or starting in-person classes.

Faculty, staff and students are advised to also order tests from https://www.covidtests.gov.  This is the federal site providing 4 testing kits per household and orders ship via USPS in 7-12 days. Please note these are rapid tests, not PCR.

In the days ahead, the AUCC will continue to assess the evolving context and communicate to you about any changes.  The fluid nature of this pandemic has made change commonplace. Note that we may need to change our guidance based upon input from our medical scientists and health experts. We are grateful for the patience, resilience, and flexibility of every member of our community as we face unpredictable circumstances together.

We look forward to seeing all of you in the spring semester as the campuses engage their graduated reopening scenarios. We anticipate returning to in-person instruction and regular campus activities beginning Monday, January 31, 2022.
