Atlanta –  The Gersh Agency facilitated an event this week on the Spike Fellows Program, a fellowship to support undergraduate students at the Atlanta University Center Consortium, of Clark Atlanta University, Morehouse College, and Spelman College, with an interest in the film industry. The program is based on the principle that access plus exposure creates opportunities.

Atlanta – AUC students were invited to an evening on campus at the AUC Woodruff Library featuring food, conversation, and career insights from the Gersh Recruiting Team for an informational session and a panel of AUC students who participated in the program since 2024, including Simone Watson, Spelman College ’24, Simone Hammond, Spelman College ’27, and Anwar Karim, Morehouse College ’26.   Each shared their perspectives with students on being part of the program, its benefits, and tips for entering, and held a Q&A.

A proud “Morehouse Man” (Class of ’79), Spike Lee received his B.A. in Mass Communication and took classes at Clark College as well as at Spelman College. When the program opened in 2022 Lee said, “From the jump, from the get-go, I knew when (not if) I opened a crack in the door, I was bringing as many Black and Brown folks with me in front and behind the camera,” he said.

Nearly a dozen students have completed the program since its inception, some continuing with full-time positions or externships.

Applications for the program this year opened on February 6, 2026, and close on February 22, 2026. AUC sophomores and juniors may apply here: https://job-boards.greenhouse.io/thegershagency/jobs/5113787008?gh_src=93mvhhzu8us

  1. The Spike Lee Fellows Program is back at AUC! Clark Atlanta, Morehouse, and Spelman students can get paid film internships, mentorship, and full-time jobs at the Gersh Agency. It’s really inspiring when past fellows tell real stories. Recruiters who use recruitment management software or recruiting database software should keep an eye on these rising stars, they’re going to be big in entertainment!
