This Symposium on Envisioning AI Education Across Disciplines – Session IIinvites participants to enhance existing syllabi and course materials with artificial intelligence (AI) learning experiences for undergraduate students or graduate students.
When: This 2-day in-person Symposium will be held on July 25-26, 2024. On July 25, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, we will host a poster session and welcome reception. On July 26, we will convene an all-day Symposium from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.

About: Meeting the workforce demands for an AI-skilled workshop, what specific learning experiences address this challenge? What course content and learning outcomes should be embedded into either the building of AI technologies or the application of such technologies responsibly? This Symposium will engage HBCU faculty, staff, and graduate students, with industry professionals, on incorporating AI into their courses so students from across disciplines can solve the AI problems of today and the future.
Faculty, staff, and graduate students from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and industry professionals are encouraged to attend.

Symposium Goals:
- Share and provide feedback on course syllabi that integrate the application and/or development of AI technologies into courses from across disciplines
- Facilitate multidisciplinary collaboration to advance course content, resources, and pedagogical strategies to advance student learning in AI
- Fine-tune the student learning outcomes in AI-infused courses, including course modules, activities, assignments, and assessments
- Facilitate multidisciplinary collaboration to advance the infusion of AI across the disciplines
Product: Each participant will be assigned to a group and will share a course syllabus to be enhanced with AI learning experiences for undergraduate or graduate students. Participants will be tasked to engage with group members and will receive and provide peer feedback and recommendations to develop the course with the new AI-infused course activities, assignments, or assessments. All participants will be expected to bring a working laptop and charging wires. By the end of the Symposium, participants will share their course syllabus with the group and present it to the symposium members for feedback and enhancement.Support: Attendance is required on both days of the event.
- Non-local HBCU faculty/staff/graduate students may apply for and receive travel and lodging flat reimbursement of $1,200.
- HBCU faculty/staff/graduate students needing family care support may receive $100.
