2021 AUCC Commencements to Feature Renowned Speakers
ATLANTA, Ga.) – The Atlanta University Center Consortium, Inc., member institutions’ spring 2021 commencements will feature renowned civil rights activists, a former gubernatorial candidate, an A-list actress and a political commentator.
Clark Atlanta University, Morehouse College and Spelman College will celebrate the classes of 2020 and 2021.
Class of 2020: Former Georgia State Senator, renowned civil rights activist and Spelman College alumna Stacey Abrams is the speaker for the ceremony to be held at 8 a.m., Saturday, May 15 at Harkness Hall Quadrangle.
Class of 2021: Morehouse College alumnus Bakari Sellers, an author, political commentator and former member of the South Carolina House of Representatives, is the featured speaker at the 3 p.m., Saturday, May 15 ceremony. The event will be held at Harkness Hall Quadrangle.
Class of 2020 and 2021:
Public interest lawyer Bryan A. Stevenson, whose life work was profiled in the legal drama “Just Mercy,” and founder and executive director of the Equal Justice Initiative (EJI), will serve as commencement speaker. The ceremony will be held 9 a.m., Sunday, May 16 on the Century Campus at Morehouse College.
MOREHOUSE SCHOOL OF MEDICINE: U.S. Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-GA) will deliver the keynote address at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 15. The event will be held in the Cadence Bank Amphitheatre at Chastain Park.
Class of 2020: Tony-nominated playwright and actress Danai Gurira, known for her roles in “Black Panther” and “The Walking Dead,” will deliver the keynote address at 9:30 a.m., Sunday, May 16, at Georgia Tech’s Bobby Dodd Stadium.
Class of 2021: Scholar, writer, philosopher and equal rights activist Angela Y. Davis will deliver the keynote address at 3 p.m., Sunday, May 16, at Georgia Tech’s Bobby Dodd Stadium.
