Atlanta – The Robert W. Woodruff Library of the Atlanta University Center Inc., announced today, Loretta Parham, their chief executive officer and director, will retire after 19 years of outstanding leadership of the library. The institution serves the campuses of Clark Atlanta University, Morehouse College, Spelman College and the Interdenominational Theological Center. The Board of Trustees and governing body of the AUC Woodruff Library announced her planned retirement date of June 2024.
AUCC Executive Director, Michael Hodge, PH.D. released the following statement concerning the retirement of Robert W. Woodruff Library CEO & Director Loretta Parham:
“It is always a little melancholy when someone with tenure and longevity makes the decision to enter another phase of living and contributing. And, so it is with the retirement of my friend and colleague Mrs. Loretta Parham from the Robert W. Woodruff Library of the Atlanta University Center.
She has been more than a leader; she has been a guiding force and visionary who transformed this underutilized space into the hub of vitality–academically, scholarly, and socially–for the AUC and the West End community.
Under her visionary leadership, Parham has seamlessly woven the tapestry of knowledge, fostering collaboration with the colleges of the Atlanta University Center Consortium. Her strategic prowess has not only enriched our library’s offerings and collections, but has also strengthened the intellectual fabric of our entire community,” Hodge said.
