AUCC’s Dual Degree Engineering Program will host the Synergy Summit alongside the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE)50th Annual Convention being held in Atlanta March 20-24, 2024. The National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) is one of the largest student-governed organizations based in the United States. NSBE, founded in 1975, supports and promotes the aspirations of collegiate and pre-collegiate students and technical professionals in engineering and technology. With more than 600 chapters and more than 24,000 active members in the U.S. and abroad, NSBE pursues its mission, “to increase the number of culturally responsible Black Engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community.” The Atlanta University Center is home to one of those chapters. The event at the AUC is graciously sponsored by corporate partners, The Toro Company and HP, and will take place on Wednesday, March 20th, and Thursday, March 21st.
This event is open to all AUC Dual Degree Engineering students and all AUC STEM majors.
On March 20th, attendees can enjoy campus tours at the AUC campuses, a closed luncheon held at the Russell Innovation Center for Entrepreneurs (RICE), bringing together the University of Michigan NSBE and AUC NSBE chapters, followed by an evening Alumni Mixer, also at RICE.
March 21st will feature events at Roosevelt Hall, home to the AUCC DDEP office. The day will begin with a speaking series led by AUC DDEP alumni Kevin Carpenter, VP of Global Operations and Integrated Supply Chain at The Toro Company, and Ernest Nicolas, Chief Supply Chain Officer at HP, Inc. This series will be moderated by Candace Barnes, VP of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Papa Johns.
Student interviews will be conducted by representatives from The Toro Company and HP and the day will conclude with an evening alumni mixer and fireside chat on the rooftop.
