Courtney Quarterman is a trailblazing leader and innovator in STEM, computer science, and artificial intelligence education, renowned for her ability to drive strategy and transformative change. As an Atlanta native, she is proud to serve AUC Data Science Initiative in the role of Program Coordinator, Career Development & Sustainability.
As the Founder of the Sister Circle Collaborative, Courtney has built a national network dedicated to connecting and empowering minority women and allies who are committed to advancing equity in STEM, computer science, and AI education. Her vision and advocacy have inspired countless educators and leaders to champion diversity and opportunity in technology fields.
Courtney’s leadership journey spans over two decades and includes pivotal roles such as Managing Strategic Director of National Computer Science Partnerships at AVID Center. At AVID, she led a business development and product team, scaling partnerships with Microsoft Philanthropies and Scratch to a national scale. Courtney spearheaded the creation of AVID’s first suite of computer science and AI teacher trainings in collaboration with several major tech organizations.
Her strategic acumen was also instrumental at the Boston Museum of Science, where she managed strategic partnerships and forged legacy STEM initiatives with stakeholders such as Girl Scouts USA, NASA and DELL. Courtney also led the redesign of all teacher training for the museum’s education wing. Earlier, as Director of Savannah Alternative High School, she launched Chatham County’s first pre-apprenticeship program for at-risk youth, raising graduation rates from 65% to 91% through innovative workforce readiness initiatives.
Courtney is celebrated for her dynamic public speaking, strategic planning, and data storytelling skills. She is a Toastmasters award winner, board member for SEM Link Inc., and active member of professional organizations including the Atlanta Black Chamber of Commerce and INROADS Atlanta Alumni Association. With a true passion for data science education and increasing student access, Courtney is an ongoing collaborator with organizations such as Data Science 4 Everyone (DS4E) and several other Data Science initiatives.
With a Masters in K-14 Mathematics from Concordia University-Portland and a Bachelors in Chemistry from Tennessee State University, Courtney Quarterman continues to lead with vision, empowering the next generation of innovators, ensuring that equity and excellence go hand in hand in the future of STEM and AI. Currently, Courtney is pursuing her Ph.D. in Data Science at Meharry School of Applied Computational Sciences (SACS), where she also serves as a Graduate Researcher.
