Consortium Council Structure
The successful collaboration among our member institutions depends heavily upon the vitality of Consortium-wide councils. The roles and expectations are outlined in the By-laws of the Atlanta University Center Consortium. The Executive Director of the Consortium constitutes each Consortium-wide council, serves as a liaison between the Council of Presidents and other Councils, and assists in identifying major goals and initiatives.
AUC Consortium Councils are comprised of representatives from each member institution. The councils serve to:
- Identify potential collaborative projects and resource-sharing opportunities;
- Provide networking and professional development opportunities among professionals;
- Serve as a forum to study and resolve issues of common concern and to explore and pursue emerging opportunities;
- Promote interaction and engagement among colleagues;
- Identify strategies to promote a more student-centered learning environment;
- Enhance the quality and efficiency of our organization and services;
- To identify innovative strategies for meeting strategic objectives and goals.

|Council of Presidents||The Council of Presidents provides oversight to the operation and services conducted by the Atlanta University Center Consortium, Inc.
It convenes to deliberate on issues that are of interest to the member institutions.
|Council of Chief Academic Officers||The Council of Chief Academic Officers serves as a means of communication among the officials of the member institutions charged with the responsibility for academic affairs. The Council seeks to isolate academic areas which could be the subject of center-coordinated programs. Each member of the Council is expected to inform his/her president of areas in which it appears likely that agreement could be reached among any of the member institutions.|
|Council of Chief Financial Officers||The Council of Chief Financial Officers seeks to achieve cooperation in the management of the business affairs of the member institutions. Each member of the Council is expected to inform the President of the member institution which he or she represents of any business area on which it appears likely that agreement could be reached among any of the member institutions. The Council formulates the Center-wide budget in consultation with the Chief Academic Officers and other appropriate councils.|
|Council of Chief Student Affairs Officers||The Council of Student Affairs seeks to intentionally create the condition that enhances student learning and development, communicate expectations that address a wide range of student behaviors associated with academic achievement, intellectual and psychosocial development, and individual and community responsibility. To also challenge students to develop meaningful value for a life of learning.|
|Council of Public Relations||The Public Relations Council is an advisory group established to assist in the advancement of the AUC Consortium and its member institutions through public relations and marketing activities. This will be accomplished by developing and understanding the Center’s goals and priorities, and by helping to define and meet public relations and marketing objectives. The Council is also a support group for its membership. It provides for regular exchange of information and resources to support individual institutions’ public relations and marketing goals and objectives.|
|Council of Security Chiefs||The Council of Security Chiefs supports the mission of the AUCC and it member institutions through the implementation of programs and projects which enhance safety and security of the entire AUCC community. Maintaining open lines of communication between Council members, encouraging on-line crime prevention collaborations, and maintaining consistent liaison with local law enforcement agencies and community partners constitutes the primary focus of the Council’s activities.|
|Council of Human Resource Officers||The Council supports AUCC Human Resources personnel in their efforts to provide the best possible services and to promote cohesive and rewarding work environments.|
|Council of Chaplains||The primary mission of the Council of Chaplains is to provide ministries and programs that enable interested students, faculty and staff to pursue full spiritual/religious growth and development, and foster a campus atmosphere in which interested members of the college community may freely express their religion and faith.|
|Council on Facilities, Operations & Sustainability||The mission of the Council on Facilities, Operations and Sustainability is to provide a forum to discuss community and economic development and service-related issues that impact AUCC institutions individually and collectively. The Council seeks to identify and advocate with city officials for public infrastructure improvements and the creation of clean, well-lit and viable neighborhoods.|
