Atlanta – The 13th President of the World Bank Group, David Malpass, will deliver remarks to the Atlanta University Center Consortium, the oldest and largest contiguous consortium of African American higher education institutions in the United States consisting of Clark Atlanta University, Morehouse College, Morehouse School of Medicine and Spelman College. The event will be held May 5th at the at the AUC Robert W. Woodruff Library Exhibition Hall, beginning with lunch & networking 12:30 p.m. and at 2 p.m., guests are invited to join AUCC’s member institution presidents and Dr. Michael Hodge, Executive Director of the AUCC, as Malpass delivers remarks and take questions from the audience. Registration is encouraged, seating is limited!
According to the World Bank Group, the transferable insight of HBCU’s is pivotal to the their HBCU’s initiative and key to its ongoing efforts to help facilitate ideas and input from diverse partners. The initiative will promote greater awareness and understanding of international development and the work of the World Bank Group at the HBCUs.
In 2022, the World Bank Group created a pilot program to engage HBCUs promoting the sharing of knowledge and talent between the development and learning institutions to advance more inclusive and sustainable social and economic development. AUCC‘s Clark Atlanta University is a part of the pilot agreement with the HBCUs providing a framework for the World Bank Group to draw on the rich talent and research of HBCU students and faculty while providing those students and faculty access to the World Bank Group’s deep pool of development knowledge, data, and analytics. Other HBCU’s include Claflin University, Howard University, Jackson State University, Tennessee State University, and Xavier University of Louisiana.
