2024 President’s Lifetime Achievement Awards Bestowed to AUCC Director Dr. Said Sewell
WASHINGTON, DC. – The 2024 President’s “Lifetime Achievement Award,” resonated over a community of leaders and others from around the country inside historic landmark Zion Baptist Church at a ceremony held on Saturday, January 19, 2024. AUCC’s Director of the Office Of Academics, Research And Student Success, Dr. Said Sewell, was one of the 2024 awardees.
According to Dr. Beverly Kee, Executive Director of Premiere Coalition Partners Association, LLC., a Maryland-based certifying organization for the Presidential Volunteer Service Award Program,“We have a very impressive list of honorees who are making a meaningful difference in their communities, and this venue is so fitting for such a prestigious event because of its historical significance to Washington.”
Kee presented the awards on behalf of the Points of Light and AmeriCorps accompanied with a Presidential Letter and President’s Lifetime Achievement Award bearing the signature of President Joseph R. Biden Jr., the 46th President of the United States. The selected honorees have made community service their mantra. The historical value of this event has many significant layers. Among the recipients will be students, business leaders, members of the clergy, civil rights leaders, musicians, politicians, and professional athletes; to name a few who are being invited and honored. Established by executive order by former President George W. Bush, the prestigious honor has been awarded to a select few Americans to recognize more than 4,000 hours of extraordinary community service per year.
“I am thrilled to share my award of the 2024 President’s Lifetime Achievement Award for my nearly three decades of service in higher education, Christendom and the community. It is an honor to be recognized for my work and I am grateful to have had the opportunity to make a positive impact in these areas. Thank you to everyone who has supported me and allowed me to mentor or serve them,” said Dr. Sewell.
In a letter to recipients from President Biden,”By sharing your time and passion, you are helping discover and deliver solutions to the challenges we face – solutions that we need now more than ever. We are living in a moment that calls for hope and light and love. Hope for our futures, light to see our way forward and love for one another. Through your service, you are providing all three.”
