AUCC’s Summer Bridge Complete for Summer 2023

Atlanta – Nearly three dozen freshman students from Clark Atlanta University, Morehouse College and Spelman College spent their summer taking a deep dive into the world of engineering. The AUCC Dual Degree Engineering Program hosts  Summer Bridge each year to prepare pre-engineering students who have been accepted into the organization’s Dual-Degree Engineering Program. The program provides the rigor of the engineering curriculum at the AUC, introduces leadership opportunities, and careers in engineering, and familiarizes incoming students with Atlanta University Center institutions and the college experience. It is an in-person seven-week intensive summer program.

Students visited Southwire, Microsoft, Ford Company, and Cisco Systems, participating in, A Day in the Life of An Engineer, working with engineers at each company to learn more about their work and their career pathway in the field.

Students also attended classes in Pre-Calculus, Chemistry, and Introduction to Engineering. Students receive academic credit for each of the courses taken in the program potentially receiving ten (10) credit hours toward their degree at their respective institution.

The students concluded their summer program with a fun day at Atlanta’s Ponce City Market.
