Tis the Season in the Atlanta University Center, Commencement Season that is.
Here’s a rundown on Commencement Exercises for 2024 our member institutions of Clark Atlanta University, Morehouse College, Morehouse School of Medicine, and Spelman College. All exercises will be live-streamed at the links found below.
Clark Atlanta University
The 35th Clark Atlanta University Commencement Convocation will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at 8:00 AM at Clark Atlanta University Panther Stadium.
The commencement speaker will be Daniel Black, Ph.D., CC 1988, a nationally renowned, award-winning novelist professor, African American Studies, Macebearer and alumnus of Clark Atlanta University.
Honorary Degree Recipient: Tina Maria Dunkley, AU 1980, Former Director/Curator of the Clark Atlanta University Art Museum

Morehouse College
Morehouse College will celebrate the class of 2024 with their 140th commencement on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at 9:00 AM on Century Campus at Morehouse College.
The commencement speaker will be Joseph R. Biden, the 46th President of the United States of America. President Biden served as a senator from Delaware for 36 years before assuming the role of the 47th Vice President of the United States. Following his victory in the 2020 presidential primary election, President Biden was inaugurated as the 46th President of the United States.
2024 HONORARY DEGREE CANDIDATE
Dr. Michael L. Lomax ’68, a distinguished fundraising executive, author, educator, and the esteemed president and CEO of UNCF, will be honored with the honorary Doctor of Humane Letters for his dedicated leadership in leading the nation’s largest private provider of scholarships and educational support to African American students.

Morehouse School of Medicine
Morehouse School of Medicine’s 40th Commencement Exercises will be held in person with family, friends, alumni, and other MSM community members invited to join in the celebration in the newly renovated Martin Luther King Jr. International Chapel at Morehouse College, Saturday, May 18 at 9 a.m.
The commencement speaker will be Anthony “Tony” Welters Chairman & CEO of Cinqcare, Executive Chairman of BlackIvy group, and Trustee Emeritus of Morehouse School of Medicine

Spelman College
Spelman’s will honor the graduates from the Class of 2024 at their 137th commencement ceremony at 3:00 pm on Sunday, May 19, 2024 at the Georgia International Convention Center (GICC).
The Commencement Speaker will be Angela Bassett, an Honorary Oscar recipient, award-winning actress, director, and executive producer known for captivating performances in iconic films such as Malcolm X, Waiting to Exhale, How Stella Got Her Groove Back, Black Panther, Mission Impossible: Fallout, and of course, What’s Love Got to Do With It,, for which she received an Academy Award nomination.
2024 Honorary Degree
Ketanji Brown Jackson, associate justice, was born in Washington, D.C., on September 14, 1970. She received an A.B., magna cum laude, from Harvard-Radcliffe College in 1992, and a J.D., cum laude, from Harvard Law School in 1996. President Joseph R. Biden, Jr., appointed her to the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit in 2021 and then nominated her as an associate justice of the Supreme Court in 2022. She took her seat on June 30, 2022.
