The AUCC’s Grand Ribbon Cutting & Reception

The Atlanta University Center Consortium will hold a Grand Ribbon Cutting & Reception at its new offices at Roosevelt Hall on Thursday, Sept. 7 at 660 Atlanta Student Movement Boulevard, Atlanta, GA 30314.

Invited guests, AUCC Staff, and the AUC Board of Directors will cut the grand opening ribbon, symbolizing the continuation of the AUCC’s partnership with their member institutions(Clark Atlanta University, Morehouse College, Morehouse School of Medicine and Spelman College) and the beginning of a new chapter for the AUC Consortium.

Roosevelt Hall is a 18,000 square-feet, two-story brick building that is the only remaining structure of the former University Homes, the first public housing development in the nation for Blacks. The re-imagined Roosevelt Hall will become a central gathering spot benefitting residents of Scholars Landing and for connecting with faculty, staff and students of the Atlanta University Center Consortium (AUCC) schools which includes Clark Atlanta University, Morehouse, Morehouse School of Medicine and Spelman College.  Planned uses include office space on the second floor for the Atlanta Housing Choice Neighborhoods team and the staff of the Atlanta University Center Consortium Inc. The first floor includes community meeting space; a library, lifelong learning center, and technology center, and retail space.  An exciting rooftop deck with amenities and redesign of the greenspace behind the building enhances the appeal of this building for rental opportunities, special events, and lifelong learning activities in collaboration with the AUCC Inc. (a nonprofit affiliate of the AUCC schools). A historical timeline of the University Homes, Roosevelt Hall, and the AUCC schools is featured along the walls of the first and second floors paying homage to their important place in history of Atlanta’s Westside.
